We went to the doctor on January 24th. It was originally scheduled for the 25th but the doctors office called 2 days before and asked if we could meet the day before because Dr. Sherman was unexpectedly going out of town. No big deal, altered our work schedule a little bit and made it happen. No way we were going to try and reschedule. We were way too excited for our first appointment.
Everything went great at our appointment. We were the first appointment of the day. Dr. Sherman had delivered a baby that morning so he was running a little bit late. Gloria (Dr. Sherman's nurse) got us started with alot of the tests. I had to pee in a cup and they had to take blood. Silly me had forgotten to drink some water that morning so I was pretty dehydrated so Gloria had to poke around a few times to find a vein that would cooperate. I ended up with a bruise that I still have today and that appointment was like a week and a half ago! Dr. Sherman showed up shortly after. He took alot of time with us! We determined that I was indeed 7 week pregnant on that day. I hadnt been into the doctor in over a year so they did a full head to toe exam on me. I got a call a few days later that all over my tests had come back normal and all my numbers were normal. YAY!!
After the head to toe exam, we went to the ultrasound room. This is where we got to see Baby King for the first time! It was such a great moment! I teared up a little bit! The baby was very tiny on the monitor so I am so glad Dr. Sherman had a big screen TV up above my head which made everything alot easier to see. We even got to record the ultrasound! We got to see the heartbeat and Dr. Sherman confirmed that we were only expecting ONE BABY!! Phew! He explained everything in detail and after the ultrasound was complete we were able to ask him some of the questions we had thought of over the previous weeks. He went over his philosophy about pregnancy. He believes in "keeping things boring" and at first I was confused but he feels that we should let my body decide the timing for everything if everything is running smoothly. He does not like to enduce labor unless there is some harm that could cause waiting. He believes that the body should do alot of the work. But he reassured that he was for pain management as needed or requested. At the end of the appointment, I was just so happy! Ryan and I are both so glad that we chose Dr. Sherman! He even gave me some nausea medication to help me get through the morning sickness!
Everything has been going pretty good besides the morning sickness. My boobs are tender. I am very tired alot. I have more mood swings now. I am cold all the time it seems. I get bloated really easily. I have to be careful about my fiber intake to make sure that I dont over do it or I am miserable! Its just hard sometimes. I feel like my emotions are just right there on the surface. I feel like the littlest things make me want to cry. I have absolutely no motivation to do anything. I just feel worn out. I just want to take a nap! Most days on my lunch break, I will do just that... I will eat lunch really fast and lay down and take a 30 minute nap.
Oh, CRAVINGS! I love to eat Cereal! Specifically, Captain Crunch!
All in all, I am loving every minute of this! I love being pregnant! I love the thought of growing a baby inside of me! I love the thought that in 7 months I will be a mommy!
God Bless Ryan for being so patient with me! I love him so much! He has been such a great support system for me through all of this! He isnt judging me and all my weird symptoms. He is being very loving! I am grateful for this!
