First off, Welcome to my very first blog!
I have created this blog for my own personal benefit. I am not expecting everyone to read it and to be honest I really don't care if no one reads it. I just took some time and got onto Facebook and looked at all my statuses over the last few months. I am so glad that I documented alot of the event that went into planning Ryan and I's wedding. It was great to look back and reflect on the past 8 months. I am not much on journaling so I decided to try blogging instead.
On 11/11/11. I married my best friend, Ryan King!
Ryan and I actually met online on a Mormon dating site on March 23, 2011. After a few days of emailing and talking on the phone, we decided to meet in person. On March 26, 2011, we set up a time and place to meet. We had decided to meet at the Round Rock Outlet Mall and it was Ryan's idea to find eachother for the first time by playing Hide-N-Seek. After about 15 minutes, I found him first and would send him text messages like, "I can see you!" I started following him around being about 30 yards behind him but when I wasnt looking he pulled a fast one on me and turned around. Soon after, I basically walked right into him. We spent 5 hours chatting in the food court.
I went home that night and knew that I had found my future husband. It somewhat freaked me out because I used to make fun of people that said they "just knew"... So I decided that I wasnt going to tell him how I felt.
We continued seeing eachother all the time after that. We couldnt stand to be apart. We could talk for hours on end and not run out of things to talk about. We realized right off the bat that we shared the same values, morals, and outlook on life. We both had future goals that complimented the other.
On Easter 2011, our families got together to celebrate together at Ryan's house. After everyone had left that night, Ryan and I were sitting on the couch in his living room and we just started talking about our feelings towards one another. By the end of the conversation and after a few tears being shed, Ryan and I had vocally expressed our love for one another (apparently he had felt the same why I did for awhile too!) and we then decided that we wanted to get married!
So here we are, about 6 months later. Ryan and I have been married for 16 days today! After we got married we went on our honeymoon to Houston and Galveston for 5 days. Ryan got really sick the day after the wedding so he was pretty much a lost cause for the first day or so of the honeymoon. But after he got feeling better and off the dang NyQuil (word to the wise, don't give that man NyQuil unless it is required), we went to the Houston Zoo with this beautiful pond, Houston Temple, Galveston Beach, Harbor Tour, Ferry Ride, Murdock's Souvenir Shop, Moody Gardens Aquarium and Rainforest! Needless to say, we had a blast!
We got back to Round Rock the next Friday (11/18/11). My grandparents were still in town for the wedding and were leaving the following Monday so my mom had decided to do Thanksgiving a couple days early so we could share in it with them. So Ryan and I spent alot of that weekend at my mom's. Seeing as how it was our first holiday together as a married couple, we wanted to see the differences that each of our families did when it came to the Thanksgiving dinner. Ryan got to experience a "Townsend Thanksgiving" on Sunday and then I got to experience a "King Thanksgiving" on the actual Thanksgiving Day. Come to find out, our meals are almost the same, just a few things a little different. The thing I was most worried about was the stuffing! I am a huge stuffing lover and I was kinda worried that I would think that his version was terrible and I would have to act like I liked it. BUT--> I liked it! It's definitely different from ours but its only a texture thing that is different. They almost taste the exact same! Huge relief for me!
Ryan and I have come up with a compromise: We will trade off stuffings every year!
Overall, the Thanksgiving Holiday was a huge success! We enjoyed the time we got to spend with all of our family. Ryan and I feel very blessed this month. We have eachother, our families and the greatest friends! The last month has really shown us how fortunate we are! Our wedding was a huge success! Everything we ever could have hoped for and more!
On Wednesday, we will be moving out of the home that Ryan has been renting from his parents and into our very own place. It is an apartment at my work. When I saw this lay out a long time ago, I knew I loved it and could see myself living in it someday. One came available about a month ago and Ryan and I discussed it and found out that it would be a great opportunity for us for more than one reason!
So in the month of November 2011, I got a promotion at work, I went to the Temple for the first time, Ryan and I got married and sealed for Time and all Eternity, had an awesome ring ceremony/reception the next day, went on our honeymoon, had two thanksgivings and moved into our new apartment! Phew! I look forward to not doing a whole lot in the month of December!
Below are a few of the pictures that we have received thus far:
